OTAKUFEST IV: Marching On!

Cosplayers, costrippers, hobbyists and photographers from all over Cebu gathered once again as the UP Cebu College successfully transformed its grounds into a battlefield of fun and creativity during the recently concluded “OtakuFest IV: Marching On!” last February 5, 2011.

this year’s celebration boasted more awesomeness with their fresh line up of attractions aside from the annual Cosplay, DoTa, Photography and Original Character Design competitions. There was a Maid Cosplay Cafe dedicated to the ‘moe-moe’ fetishes, Jpop Dance Contest, Photobooth, mini 4WD race, and band performances. Enthusiasts also had the luxury of shopping cosplay goodies at the bazaar and pigging out at the food station.

for the past four years, Otakufest never fails to bring invigorating joys and memories to every Cebuano who attends the event. it’s the only time of the year where fellow junkies can share their passion and hobby to everybody without limits, meet new and old acquaintances, and a chance to switch lives with their favorite fictional characters.

this year was one awesome Otakufest for me since i went there as a first time costripper, strutting my age-old black lolita dress. now i know why most of my cosplay friends call it addictive. the fun and satisfaction you feel whenever someone admires your costume is priceless! you forget all the hardships you went through in making the costume the moment someone calls you by your character’s name. everything was worth it!

and the best part of this event is meeting your longtime friends. every hobby convention feels like a reunion with my elementary classmates. though we live in the same city, we never had the chance to meet up because of conflicting schedules. except for Otakufest, Of course!

me and elementary classmate and fellow doodle junkie, Bubbles! we used to exchange drawings and pretend we’re cartoon super heroines back then.. ^^

Me and Sean-Kuun~! they were selling cosplay wigs.. you can check their site here!

DoTa pwners ivan, bennie, john, and richie with Bubbles of course! ^^

Otakufest isn’t merely a comical event, but a massive collaboration of aesthetic expression! Cheers to another successful one..

till next festival, gaizzz!!! <3

BLOOD + personal review

NAN KURU NAI SA

pretty awesome cake!

i sooo love the ending and how everything turned out well. hope a second season comes out! it would be great to see Diva's beautiful kids all grown up, Hagi all well again, Kai and the others with wrinkles, Julia's cute kid, Mao and Okamura (it's obvious they'll end up together!), and LuLu! ^_^

the ending was quite a tearjerker. the scene where kai gave saya a piggyback ride to the"place where it all started" reminds me of Endless Love:Autumn in my Heart. Saya might be immortal, but being asleep for 30 years is just like being dead!! by the time she wakes up, everyone is old!..

im glad Hagi's still alive, at least, someone's going to be there for her and the next generation chiroptera queens when Kai and their friends age.

this anime is packed not only with action but also with life's greatest lessons.
"LIVE FOR TODAY. LOOK FORWARD TO TOMORROW. AND DON'T FORGET TO SMILE.."

each character's determination to live and enjoy a normal life is very inspiring. the anime taught us to value the presence of each being, especially those close to our hearts. and even if we lose important people in our lives, they won't totally abandon us because they'll continue to live in our memories forever.

however, i was a bit dissapointed with regards to the fight scenes. i wasn't satisfied.. i needed more blood curdling fights. and how Diva died was unexpected.. she was really strong! but, her life ended because of one important information she overlooked.

this series needs a second season.. Nathan, Diva's chevalier still exist. maybe he has future plans of using Diva's children for his own selfish intentions.. oh well.. whatever happens, Saya and Haji will be there to protect the girls, and the entire world.

Blood: the Last Vampire.. YOU'RE NEXT!

(i'll miss you Solomon.. ^_^)
